Shore Soup Project is
a group of Rockaway residents and allies who have been serving free hot soup door to door in Rockaway since Hurricane Sandy! We serve over 600 meals a day, 5 days a week!
After beginning the operation in Robyn and Lillian’s apt ( where they had no heat, electricity or hot water) now after 5 weeks, have moved into the Kitchen of Rockaway Taco and are collaborating with Veggie Island to use their store front for service. Come eat here and pay what you want, or donate at the benefit to keep this solidarity work going!
All donations are tax deductible.
The project is sponsored by a 501c3
Welcome to the ‘Sparkle for Sandy Relief’ fundraising auction. This endeavor brings together the work of over 90 jewelry designers and international brands for one important cause: supporting Hurricane Sandy relief efforts. All of the proceeds from the auction will be donated to Waves for Water’s Hurricane Sandy Relief Initiative, a 501c3 charitable organization.
There have been a ton of Hurricane Sandy fundraisers, but Blue Beyond Borders is the first that is promoting climate change awareness. There will be a panel of ocean luminaries, including underwater explorers, authors, conservation photographers, the director of Chasing Ice, and a variety of scientists. Sounds like the best night ever!! Tickets.
Message from Occupy Sandy
Occupy Sandy volunteer,
Today, our hard-working responders out in Staten Island got word from the Mayor’s Office that all outdoor and sidewalk relief efforts must shut down immediately. They also learned that sidewalk pop-up free mutual aid stations like the ones we’ve set up across the city will be considered “vendors” and shut down as well.
We’ve seen in the last month how amazing a people-powered recovery can be, so let’s not let bureaucracy shut it down!
TAKE ACTION: Demand the Mayor’s office end community hub eviction and instead support this crisis with space, housing, medical care and equipment
CALL: Public Advocate’s office: (212) 669-7250 9am-5pm
